H Mart Opens First East Bay Store in Dublin to Big Crowds

The mega-market’s debut underscores the Bay Area’s surge of large Asian grocers with food halls.

Overview

  • H Mart, which opened Thursday at 7884 Dublin Blvd., drew lines that wrapped around the shopping center.
  • The nearly 39,000-square-foot store includes an about 8,500-square-foot food hall with vendors serving Korean fried chicken, corn dogs, noodles, soft-tofu soup, and an outpost of galbijjim specialist Daeho.
  • The store operates daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • H Mart says it hired about 100 full-time employees for the Dublin location after converting a former Orchard Supply Hardware site.
  • The opening is the chain’s fourth Bay Area store and reflects broader expansion by Asian grocers, with H Mart planning a larger Fremont location this year and other rivals growing across the region.
