Overview
- GWM introduced the Ora 5 in July 2026 with two grades, Lux and Ultra, priced from $33,990 to $36,990 driveaway and sold as a BEV-only small SUV in Australia.
- The Ora 5 uses a 150 kW front-drive motor paired with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery that GWM says gives up to 435 km WLTC range and supports 120 kW DC charging that can take the battery from 30 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes.
- Standard gear includes 18-inch wheels, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Coffee OS, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control and optional V2L via an accessory adaptor.
- GWM emphasises battery safety with IP68 sealing, liquid cooling, heat-pump climate control and endurance/crush testing while offering a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year/unlimited-kilometre battery warranty plus $195 capped scheduled servicing.
- Early road tests praised the Ora 5’s ride, steering and value for money but noted its bold styling may divide buyers and that the car’s final ANCAP safety rating, expected later in 2026, could shape broader consumer acceptance.
