Guwahati Police Bust Alleged OLX Job-Scam Escort Racket, 3 Arrested

Investigators say the network lured students and job seekers with fake “personal assistant” ads on OLX, an online classifieds site, and arranged bookings over WhatsApp and an unnamed international website.
Victims were assaulted, confined, secretly recorded in sexual situations, and blackmailed with those images to force them to meet clients.
A cyber case (No. 7/2026) was registered as officers seized about Rs 3.8 lakh in cash, five phones, a laptop, and more than 20 SIM cards.
At least eight victims have been identified or rescued, and police urged others to report similar abuse as they map clients and the wider network.
