Overview
- Police say a girl of about three was lured from her neighbourhood on Thursday evening and taken several kilometres to an empty plot in Sector 37.
- The child’s parents filed a missing report around 12:15–12:20 am, and CCTV footage showed her leaving with a neighbour.
- Officers detained the suspect, identified as Shivnath of Supaul, Bihar, within hours and say he admitted to the assault and killing during interrogation.
- The accused allegedly raped the child, strangled her, and buried her in a shallow pit; he then led police to the body, which was recovered around 2 am.
- Investigators booked him under BNS Section 103(1) for murder and POCSO Section 6, with post-mortem and forensic examinations underway and his Sector 37 work history under review.
