Gurugram Auto Worker Dies After Air Compressor Assault
Police say the case shows how misuse of compressed air at work can turn a scuffle deadly.
Overview
- Harvinder Singh, 38, died after a fight at a Gurugram auto workshop on Tuesday led to a blast of compressed air to his private parts.
- Police said co-worker Naresh, 40, pinned him and used an air-compressor nozzle, which forced air into his abdomen and ruptured his intestines.
- Bystanders took him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead, and a forensic report later found his intestines had ruptured from compressed air.
- Police arrested Naresh, who is from Deeg in Rajasthan, on a murder charge under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kherki Daula police station.
- Compressed-air hoses in garages move air at high pressure to clean parts, and misuse on the body can cause catastrophic internal injuries within seconds.
