Overview
- On Friday a dispute on the Cuautla–Galeana highway at Palo Prieto, Tlaltizapán, escalated into gunfire that left six people dead, including a 17-year-old and two municipal traffic officers.
- Witnesses say the shooting began after an argument between occupants of different vehicles and that the attackers opened fire on a family car before fleeing.
- During their escape the assailants encountered a traffic patrol and shot the officers, one of whom died at the scene and a second who later died in hospital.
- Authorities reported detentions in Temilpa/Temilpa Viejo and the Fiscalía General del Estado has carried out forensic diligences and opened criminal investigations into the killings.
- The Tlaltizapán attack came the same day as other violent deaths across Morelos, including a threatened businessman and three female deaths now investigated under feminicide protocol, and highlights a rising trend of lethal attacks on police in the state.
