Gujarat ATS Busts Mephedrone Lab at UP Poultry Farm, Two Arrested

The cross-state raid followed a March 1 Ahmedabad seizure that led investigators to a poultry-farm lab after 12 days of surveillance.

  • A joint operation by the Gujarat ATS and Uttar Pradesh Police recovered 6 kg of mephedrone, 50 kg of liquid mephedrone, 88 kg of 2-bromo-4-methylpropiophenone, and about 200 kg of raw materials.
  • The arrested suspects, Kapildev Sharma, 31, and Ramshankar alias Pankaj Parshuram, 30, were taken into police custody for 12 days, officials said.
  • The probe originated with a March 1 seizure of 4.6 grams in Ahmedabad, which led to arrests of Shafaat Ahmed, Sohil alias Bhura Mirza, and Farhan alias Bhura Pathan.
  • Interrogations indicated Sohil had procured about 300 grams from Kapildev and Ramshankar, guiding ATS teams to a tin shed at a poultry farm in Ramnagar Karri village.
  • The seized precursor 2-bromo-4-methylpropiophenone was notified as a controlled substance on March 11, and investigators are pursuing forensic analysis and supply-chain leads.
