Groom Charged With Second-Degree Murder in Oklahoma Bachelor-Party Shooting

Investigators say the case remains open after the groom reportedly admitted firing the shot.

  • Deputies in Broken Bow, who responded just before 1 a.m. Saturday, found 21-year-old Braden Uhlmann with a gunshot wound and he later died at a hospital.
  • Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents said Nolan Engel, 22, was with Uhlmann at a cabin off Rockhill Circle and was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
  • Court records reported by local outlet KXII say Engel admitted he was the shooter and said he fired a 9mm after hearing knocking and seeing a shadow outside the cabin.
  • Engel posted a $250,000 bond and was released from the McCurtain County Jail, according to local reports.
  • The OSBI said no one else was hurt and the investigation is ongoing.
