Grizzlies’ Santi Aldama Has Knee Procedure, Out for Remainder of Season

Memphis points to poor playoff odds to prioritize Aldama’s recovery.

Overview

  • Santi Aldama underwent arthroscopy with an orthobiologic injection on Tuesday to treat right-knee trochlear discomfort and is expected to be ready for 2026–27.
  • Aldama had not played since Feb. 4 and finished with career highs of 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds over 43 games after signing a three-year, $52.5 million deal last summer.
  • The team also said guard Scotty Pippen Jr. had surgery on his right big toe and will miss the rest of the season.
  • Memphis has dealt with extensive absences this year, with Ty Jerome, Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke, and Ja Morant missing significant time and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope already out following finger surgery.
  • The Grizzlies entered Tuesday at 23–44 and outside the play-in picture, and reporters expect GG Jackson and Olivier-Maxence Prosper to see expanded roles.
