GreedFall Studio Spiders Confirms Liquidation After Nacon Insolvency

The shutdown follows Nacon’s failed effort to sell the Paris developer after it entered court protection from creditors.

Overview

  • Spiders, which confirmed Wednesday it is being liquidated, said the company no longer exists and all work stops now, with one last GreedFall: The Dying World DLC to be published by Nacon.
  • Nacon filed for insolvency in February after majority shareholder Bigben Interactive missed a bond repayment, and French outlet Origami reported the publisher could not find a buyer for Spiders.
  • The studio told players to direct support questions to Nacon, and reports described staff halting regular production in recent days to update resumes and prepare for the shutdown.
  • The French games union STJV blamed Nacon’s management for the outcome, called for a boycott of the publisher, and said 71 workers will lose their jobs.
  • Other Nacon teams that also entered insolvency, including Kylotonn, Cyanide and Nacon Tech, face uncertainty, even as Nacon schedules a May 7 Nacon Connect showcase.
