Greater Manchester Bus Satisfaction Rises as Bee Network Changes Bed In

The watchdog credits local control for cheaper fares that improved reliability.

Overview

  • Transport Focus, which published its survey Wednesday, reported Greater Manchester satisfaction at 86% and value for money at 79% from a study of 47,863 passengers, the biggest yearly gain as the national value-for-money score fell to 63%.
  • Transport for Greater Manchester said franchising under the Bee Network let it hold the £2 single fare, introduce new routes, and scrap the 9:30 a.m. concession limit so older and disabled people can travel free all day.
  • Service performance improved, with satisfaction on wait times up to 71% and on-time arrivals up to 76%, reflecting updated timetables, added buses, and tap-and-go tickets across bus and tram.
  • Further growth is planned later in 2026, with extra routes and new 24-hour night buses set to extend coverage across the region.
  • The survey also flagged a drop in how safe people feel at bus stops, with urban metropolitan areas such as Greater Manchester reporting lower perceptions of personal security.
