Overview
- A trackside fire beside Stratford’s railway on Friday, July 10 badly damaged signalling equipment and left some platforms and lines blocked.
- The damage forced cancellations, diversions and reduced timetables on routes between London Liverpool Street and destinations including Ipswich, Colchester Town, Southend Victoria, Clacton-on-Sea and Braintree.
- Network Rail engineers and emergency teams switched off overhead power for safety, worked to repair signalling and telecoms, and kept some platforms closed while restoring systems.
- Greater Anglia applied temporary changes during the disruption such as terminating some Tottenham Hale services at Lea Bridge and accepting rail tickets on London Buses, and it urged passengers to check live departures.
- Passengers remain advised to allow extra time, use Delay Repay for delays of 15 minutes or more, expect busier peak trains, and watch for short-notice changes while final infrastructure checks continue.
