Grayscale Withdraws Cardano, Hedera and Polkadot ETF Registrations

The firm filed sponsor-initiated Form RW requests to cancel the S-1s, a move that narrows its altcoin ETF pipeline while other filings remain at different stages.

Overview

  • Grayscale submitted formal withdrawal requests on Aug. 7, 2026 that cancel the S-1 registration statements for proposed Cardano (ADA), Hedera (HBAR) and Polkadot (DOT) ETFs.
  • The three Form RW filings were logged in EDGAR within a 190-second window and state that Grayscale does not intend to proceed and that no shares were issued.
  • Those withdrawals were sponsor actions under Rule 477 and are not SEC rejections, and related exchange 19b-4 listing proposals for the same products had already been withdrawn months earlier.
  • Grayscale offered no commercial or regulatory explanation beyond standard boilerplate language, and ADA, HBAR and DOT prices showed little movement after the filings.
  • Other Grayscale altcoin S-1s remain preliminary and two staking ETFs have already been declared effective, so the move looks like internal portfolio pruning rather than a companywide retreat from crypto products.
