Grapevine Bus Driver Arrested in Neighbor Shooting

The district fired him following his arrest.

Overview

  • Police say a man was shot by his neighbor around 1 p.m. Thursday on the 3300 block of Wilshire Avenue and was taken to a hospital.
  • Officers identified the suspect as 64-year-old Shenkoru Sleshi Meketa, also reported as Maketa, who faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
  • Multiple Grapevine-Colleyville ISD campuses went into a “secure” status during the response, which kept classes inside with doors locked and no visitors.
  • Police later said the scene was secure and the investigation remains active, and GCISD lifted the campus restrictions.
  • The district confirmed the suspect was a bus driver who missed his afternoon shift, was terminated after the arrest, and will have a substitute cover his routes.
