Overview
- Grand Canyon National Park said this week the North Rim will reopen for the 2026 season at 6 a.m. on May 15.
- All paved roads will be open, including Highway 67, Cape Royal, and Point Imperial, with a 22‑foot vehicle limit on the two scenic spur roads because of tight turns and scarce parking.
- The entire North Kaibab Trail will open to hikers only, stock use is suspended for the season, and crews may pause travel at times to fix fire damage and manage hazards.
- Cottonwood Campground reopens May 15, the North Rim Campground is expected to return without hookups once conditions allow with reservations to follow on recreation.gov, and no in‑park lodging will be offered this season.
- Recovery work continues after the July 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire burned about 145,000 acres and destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge, with future lodge decisions moving through a federal NEPA planning process and basic services available outside the park at the North Rim Country Store and Jacob Lake.
