Google Ventures Leads $30 Million Seed Round for Nebex Space Fintech
The funding backs a plan to build banking and payment infrastructure to speed large international space transactions.
Overview
- The company raised $30 million in a seed round led by Google Ventures with participation from Eniac Ventures, 2048 Ventures and Better Tomorrow Ventures, the filings and press reports show.
- Nebex was founded by Tejpaul Bhatia, the former CEO of Axiom Space, to act as an online broker linking U.S. space suppliers, foreign sovereign buyers and investors and to take fees on matched deals.
- Nebex disclosed a banking partnership with J.P. Morgan that the bank described as support for the startup’s next growth phase.
- The startup says it is targeting very large transactions of roughly $100 million or more and has not yet launched its platform; the company told reporters a preliminary version is planned for this summer with a full rollout targeted by year-end.
- The founders say the service will ease payment and financing frictions but will operate within existing export‑control, procurement and national‑security rules, meaning government reviews and compliance checks remain likely bottlenecks.
