Google Rolls Out May Android 16 Update to Pixels, Adds Anti-Rollback on Pixel 10

The patch acts as a stability sweep before Android 17.

Overview

  • Google began a phased rollout Tuesday to Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8/9/10 series, and Pixel 10a, delivering build CP1A.260505.005 with the May security patch, while the Pixel 6 and 7 lines are not included.
  • The update fixes slow wireless charging that kicked in when batteries sat between about 75% and 80% on supported models.
  • Pixel 10 phones receive display fixes for a flickering white dot and random fuzz or freezes, plus a camera patch that stops the base Pixel 10 from freezing when zooming during video recording.
  • The release raises the Pixel 10 bootloader’s anti‑rollback version, which blocks downgrades and can leave a manually flashed phone unbootable if the inactive update slot still holds the older bootloader.
  • Google tells developers and tinkerers to boot once into the May build and then sideload the full OTA to update both slots, while typical users can take the standard over‑the‑air update without extra steps.
