Google Rolls Out Lyria 3 in Gemini, Letting Users Generate 30-Second Songs

The beta shifts Google’s music AI from cloud research to everyday use with provenance checks.

Overview

  • Users can create 30-second tracks from text, images, or video, with auto-generated lyrics, style, vocal and tempo controls, plus custom cover art from Nano Banana.
  • Lyria 3 access is global for users 18 and older in eight languages, launching on desktop first with mobile availability following over the next several days.
  • All tracks carry Google’s SynthID watermark, and Gemini can check uploaded audio for SynthID to help identify AI-generated music.
  • YouTube’s Dream Track is adopting Lyria 3 and expanding beyond the U.S., giving creators worldwide tools to generate custom Shorts soundtracks.
  • Google says the model is built for original expression, applies filters to reduce artist mimicry, and offers higher generation limits to paid AI subscribers as industry copyright debates continue.
