Google Rolls Out Gemini Screen Automation to Pixel 10 Phones in the U.S.

The update enables assistant-driven, in-app task completion in a secure virtual window with user approval required at checkout.

Overview

  • Availability is reaching Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL on Android 16 QPR3 in the U.S., with the setting also appearing on a Pixel 10 Pro Fold despite not being officially listed.
  • Gemini can open supported apps in a protected window, scroll, tap, and type through orders or ride bookings, show a “Working on this task” card and a “Task in progress” notification, and pause for final confirmation.
  • Current partners include Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, Grubhub, DoorDash, and Starbucks, with Instacart noted as coming; Pixel access is U.S.-only as Galaxy S26 users also have it in Korea.
  • Daily automation requests are capped by subscription tier: Free 5, AI Plus 12, AI Pro 20, and AI Ultra 120.
  • Users must opt in via the Gemini app’s Screen automation permission, and despite the isolated UI, processing includes cloud-based steps and screenshot capture that may be reviewed if activity history is kept on.
