Overview
- At Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas, Google unveiled the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform that retires Vertex AI and organizes agent building around Build, Scale, Govern and Optimize with tools such as Agent Studio, the ADK, Agent Runtime and Memory Bank.
- The new Agentic Data Cloud adds a Knowledge Catalog for ambient ingestion, GraphRAG for graph-aware retrieval and a Cross-Cloud Lakehouse that uses Apache Iceberg and interconnects to let agents query data in AWS and Azure without bulk migration.
- Governance features give each agent a cryptographic identity, list approved agents and tools in an Agent Registry and route calls through an Agent Gateway with Model Armor, while unified tracing and online evaluation support audits and live debugging.
- Google split its eighth-generation TPU into 8t for training and 8i for inference and reasoning with claims of higher performance per dollar, and Forbes reports both chips are slated for general availability later in 2026.
- Developer updates include agents-cli, which exposes machine-readable skills so AI assistants can execute real commands, plus a no‑code Workspace Studio for building agents, and early pilots from Comcast, Color Health, L'Oréal, PayPal and Payhawk show practical uses in support, health, commerce and finance.
