Google Publishes Pixel 11 Factory Images as Devices Begin Shipping

The official images let users and developers restore phones to stock Android 17 and confirm the generation’s internal 'bears' codenames.

Overview

  • Google released factory images for every Pixel 11 model on Aug. 21, providing three distinct builds per device (CD1A.260618.001.A7, CD1A.260618.001.C2, CD1A.260714.001.A9).
  • All images are based on Android 17 and include the August 2026 security patch, which establishes the software baseline for units arriving with customers.
  • Google says factory images restore a software-damaged phone but recommends sideloading the full OTA as the easier and safer update path for most users.
  • The published metadata confirms the Pixel 11 generation uses bear-themed codenames (Pixel 11: cubs; Pixel 11 Pro: grizzly; Pixel 11 Pro XL: kodiak; Pixel 11 Pro Fold: yogi) and Google has not assigned carrier or region labels to the builds.
  • Pixel 11 phones have moved from preorder to shipping and customers should note that the new models are not currently eligible for Android 17 QPR1 or QPR2 through the Android Beta Program, which may delay participation in beta releases.
