Google Photos' Conversational Editor Expands to India, Australia and Japan

Edits run locally on Android devices using Google's Nano Banana model.

Overview

  • The feature is available on any Android phone with at least 4GB of RAM running Android 8.0 or newer, extending access beyond Pixel devices.
  • All processing occurs on-device via the Nano Banana image model, allowing edits without an internet connection once the work begins.
  • A new “Help me edit” box lets users type or speak requests for tasks such as removing objects, restoring old photos, or refining group shots using private face groups.
  • Prompt-based editing now supports Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali and Gujarati.
  • Google is adding C2PA Content Credentials to label images that were created or modified with AI.
