Overview
- Google began a staged rollout Friday that makes Information Agents available to Google AI Ultra subscribers across all AI Mode languages and markets.
- Users activate an agent inside AI Mode with prompts such as “keep me updated on” or “alert me when,” and the agent runs continuously in the background to watch a topic.
- Google says agents scan the open web — including blogs, news sites and social posts — while also tapping real-time finance, shopping and sports data to send synthesized updates with links and quick actions.
- The capability is limited today to the paid AI Ultra tier, priced at roughly $99.99–$199.99 per month, with Google saying access will expand to Google AI Pro and more users this summer but offering no firm schedule.
- The rollout stems from Google I/O’s push to make Search more agentic and could change user habits by letting people delegate monitoring, affect publisher traffic patterns, raise accuracy and privacy questions, and increase infrastructure demands as the system scales.
