Overview
- Google began rolling out version 5.05 on Monday, August 3, 2026, and the iOS release lets Google Health write exercise records, steps, sleep, vitals, and similar metrics into Apple Health once users grant permission.
- Setup requires users to review Apple Health permissions inside Google Health and choose which categories to share plus how much history to import, with options such as past 30 days or full history.
- The current release limits Apple→Google historical imports to about three months and excludes heart rate variability because Google and Apple use different formulas to calculate HRV.
- The update adds Smart Health Links in the U.S. so users can share medical-record summaries with clinicians or family, and Google says the Android rollout will follow this staged release.
- The change ends a long reliance on third-party syncing workarounds for Fitbit data and follows Google Health’s May relaunch as the replacement for the Fitbit app, which ties synced data to the user’s Google account.
