Google Health 5.03 Brings More Dashboard Tiles and Nap Tracking

The update narrows gaps with Fitbit-era features to improve measurement accuracy and let users customize glanceable metrics.

Overview

  • Google released Google Health version 5.03 Wednesday and Thursday, making the update available on iOS immediately while rolling it out in phases to Android.
  • Users can add many new Today-tab metric tiles, including heart rate variability, breathing rate, SpO2, resting heart rate, skin temperature variation, blood glucose, protein/fat/carbohydrate intake, mindfulness metrics, resilience, and a friend leaderboard.
  • Sleep tracking now counts naps longer than 20 minutes toward the 24-hour total in the Sleep tab and shows trends for main sleep and total sleep, while the Today sleep tile continues to display only the main sleep session.
  • The release fixes measurement bugs that produced incorrect swim distances and units and corrects large elevation discrepancies versus Strava and TCX files to improve activity accuracy.
  • iOS catches up to Android 5.02 with drag-and-drop reordering of Key Metrics, improved food search that shows serving units and calories, and dedicated nap views as part of Google’s push to restore Fitbit-era functionality and reach cross-platform parity.
