Google Expands Gemini Personal Intelligence to India, Canada and the Arab World

The opt-in upgrade lets Gemini use your Google data to answer with personal context.

Overview

  • Google began rolling out Personal Intelligence Tuesday to paid Gemini AI subscribers in India, Canada and most Arab countries, with free access promised in the coming weeks.
  • Personal Intelligence connects Gmail, Photos, YouTube, Search, Calendar, Drive and Maps so the assistant can pull and reason across a user’s own emails, images and activity to give tailored answers.
  • The rollout is limited to personal Google accounts and works on the web, Android and iOS, while Europe and Google Workspace business or education accounts are not included yet.
  • The feature is off by default and supports per‑app permissions, chat history controls and a toggle to disable personalization when users prefer a generic response.
  • Google says it will not directly train models on Gmail or Photo libraries, will cite sources in answers for verification, and cautions the system can misread context that users can correct with feedback.
