Google Brings Gemini Omni Video Editing to India

Paid users can now edit short videos with text prompts as Google rolls out provenance watermarking and prepares developer APIs.

Overview

  • Google has opened Gemini Omni video-upload and text-driven editing to users in India through the Gemini app and web for Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers.
  • Gemini Omni is a multimodal model that accepts text, images, audio and video so users can generate or iteratively refine clips by giving follow-up instructions in a conversational way.
  • The current model, Gemini Omni Flash, is limited to creating or editing clips of about 10 seconds with audio and embeds Google’s SynthID digital watermark for provenance verification.
  • Google is integrating Omni into creator tools such as Google Flow and YouTube Shorts and making basic access available on YouTube Create and Shorts at no cost to broaden reach.
  • Google says developer and enterprise APIs for Omni will arrive in the coming weeks, a step that could let businesses build the tool into apps and services and expand use beyond subscriber channels.
