Google Adds Pet Memory to Gemini for Home Cameras

Designed to cut camera misidentifications by using user‑supplied pet names, the subscription feature also extends Gemini’s Ask Home voice search to more supported countries.

Google began rolling out the Pet Memory feature to Early Access Gemini for Home users starting Tuesday, bringing the update to indoor Nest cameras and select Gemini built‑in cameras.
Pet Memory lets users enter a pet’s name and type via Ask Home so cameras use that information in live alerts and summaries instead of generic labels like “a dog,” which Google says reduces misidentifications.
The new Home voice features expand Ask Home and Home Briefs to all markets where Gemini for Home is supported and add early access for Germany, enabling natural‑language voice queries of live and past camera footage.
Access requires opting into Gemini camera features and the Google Home Premium Advanced subscription, and Google is rolling the changes out in stages with device, region, and language limits.
The update builds on May improvements to Home automations and Nest Cam controls and could reshape how pet owners monitor animals by making alerts more personal while also tying key features to subscription status and limited availability.
