Overview
- Google announced on Monday, June 29, 2026 that Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and eligible Workspace business customers can now use the "Take notes for me" feature in Google Meet on web and mobile.
- Gemini transcribes meetings in real time, generates a summary with key action items, saves the notes automatically to a Google Doc in the host’s Drive, and sends an email recap after the call.
- Users can start note-taking from a pencil icon in a live Meet window or enable it in Meeting records settings and all participants are notified when it is active.
- The tool supports eight languages reported as English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish and offers options to set the level of detail and the recap format (Summary, Decisions, Next steps, Details).
- The expansion follows Gemini’s wider rollouts since 2024 and raises practical privacy and compliance trade-offs because meetings are transcribed and stored, while it could cut manual note work and speed follow-up for meeting hosts and participants.
