Overview
- The 13510 Down Gonda–Asansol Express struck a rice-laden truck around 9:38 am on Jan. 22 at crossing number 27 between Kumardabad Rohini and Shankarpur on the Jasidih–Madhupur section in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
- No injuries were reported, though two motorcycles were damaged when the truck was pushed during the collision.
- Rail traffic halted on both lines, with the up line restored around 11:00 am and the down line reopening about 12:30 pm, allowing the stranded express to continue and an Asansol–Jhajha passenger train to pass cautiously.
- A widely shared video shows heavy road congestion at the closed crossing as the passenger train approaches and makes contact with the truck.
- Railway, RPF and local police teams are investigating gate operations, signalling and possible driver negligence, as the incident also choked the only road access to Deoghar AIIMS.
