Golders Green Stabbings Case Set for 2027 Old Bailey Trial

Prosecutors allege the victims were picked for their Orthodox Jewish dress, making motive central to the terrorism inquiry.

  • Essa Suleiman, 45, appeared by video from Belmarsh for a preliminary Old Bailey hearing and was remanded in custody.
  • Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb scheduled a plea hearing for September 25, 2026 and set a provisional three-week trial to begin March 1, 2027.
  • He is charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife after street attacks in Golders Green that prosecutors say targeted identifiable Orthodox Jews.
  • The charges also cover an earlier alleged knife attack on his friend Ishmail Hussein in Southwark, after which prosecutors say he traveled by public transport to Highfield Avenue where a bystander tried to disarm him.
