GOL Sets July Start for Rio–New York Route, Tapping Wet-Lease as A330neos Line Up

The move marks GOL’s shift from a 737-only fleet to long-haul service using an initial Wamos Air wet-lease before its A330-900neos arrive.

Overview

  • GOL has loaded a 3x weekly nonstop Rio de Janeiro (GIG)–New York (JFK) service starting July 8, 2026, with flights G37000 and G37001 now on sale.
  • The published schedule shows GIG–JFK departing 9:55 p.m. and arriving 6:55 a.m. next day, and JFK–GIG departing 11:00 p.m. and arriving 9:55 a.m. next day.
  • Initial operations will use a Wamos Air A330-200 on an ACMI basis, leveraging Abra Group’s ties to the Spanish wet-lease carrier.
  • Abra Group has a firm order for seven Airbus A330neos for 2026–2027, with up to five A330-900s slated for GOL and two for Avianca.
  • The A330-900s will include a business-class cabin, and Abra says some aircraft will feature lavatories adapted for passengers with reduced mobility; separate reporting suggests some jets could be ex-Azul, which remains unconfirmed.
