Overview
- GOG rolled out downloadable rotatable 3D scans and flat printable templates for five Preservation Program titles, which launched Tuesday, and made the files available to game owners as ZIP packages.
- The initial set includes Armikrog, Descent, Hitman: Codename 47, Myst, and Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, with the two latter titles newly added to the program.
- Each ZIP contains an animated GLB 3D object that opens in native Windows and macOS 3D viewers plus printable art in PDF, SVG and Adobe Illustrator formats so users can print, cut, fold, and glue their own replicas.
- GOG created the files in partnership with the Big Box Collection, a long-running one-person archive that supplied the high-resolution scans of fronts, backs, spines and flaps.
- GOG positions the offering as preservation and a DIY alternative to commercial reissues, noting print quality will vary by user hardware and that the program is limited to the initial five titles with no broader rollout announced.
