Overview
- Railway authorities approved a four-lane design for the Garhi crossing and agreed to fund half the cost, according to GMDA officials.
- GMDA asked its consultant to redo the detailed project report and the approach roads, with the estimate rising from about ₹55 crore to around ₹100 crore.
- The overbridge on Garhi Road in Sector 37D is meant to cut long waits at the manned gate and to ease the load on the narrow Basai rail bridge by giving nearby residents a second link to Dwarka Expressway.
- The structure will be built under railway supervision, and GMDA says the revised plan replaces an earlier two-lane scheme to create infrastructure that can handle future traffic.
- In parallel, GMDA is pushing flyovers on the Dwarka–Manesar corridor and Delhi’s PWD has begun feasibility studies for 8 to 10 railway crossings, including possible tunnels at Punjabi Bagh and Peeragarhi.
