Overview
- General Motors said it will start assembling the Chevrolet Groove and Aveo in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, in 2027, replacing imports from its China joint venture.
- The company set a goal of about 80,000 vehicles a year by 2030, with Groove production starting first and Aveo to follow.
- GM confirmed a $1 billion investment in the Ramos Arizpe complex to ready the plant and expand local capacity.
- The automaker said local production will cut tariff exposure, speed deliveries, lower shipping costs, and protect pricing for budget-focused buyers.
- The plan, presented in Toluca with President Claudia Sheinbaum and Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, fits Mexico’s Plan Mexico and builds on GM’s 23,000 employees and 650 local suppliers.
