Overview
- The Great Lakes Water Authority said it lifted the remaining boil-water advisories for Orion Township, the Village of Lake Orion, northern Auburn Hills, the northwest corner of Rochester Hills, and a small part of Oakland Township.
- The crisis began when a 42-inch main in Auburn Hills was found leaking on May 6, then ruptured early May 10 near River Woods Park during a rerouting effort.
- Crews installed a new 42-inch pipe segment, flushed the system, restored pressure, then completed required bacteriological testing before clearing the water for normal use.
- Emergency water-use limits are no longer in place, and residents are directed to Oakland County Health Division guidance on steps to take after a boil notice is lifted.
- GLWA’s CEO, Suzanne R. Coffey, thanked affected communities for their patience, as officials noted the failed line was installed in 1975 and that water trucks distributed more than 31,700 gallons during the response.
