Global Chain Operation Recovered 11 Missing Georgia Children and a Man Was Indicted

Prosecutors plan to expand international partnerships to find victims, pursue traffickers, close illicit businesses.

Overview

  • Operation Global Chain, conducted June 8–12, located and recovered 11 missing children in Georgia through a coordinated effort with the FBI, INTERPOL, EUROPOL and AMERIPOL.
  • A Fulton County grand jury indicted 36-year-old Eric Gordon on Monday, Aug. 17, on one count of trafficking a 16-year-old for sexual servitude after U.S. Marshals helped take him into custody on Aug. 4.
  • Officials have confirmed the total of 11 recoveries but are withholding details about the other 10 children and aspects of the probe to protect victims and preserve ongoing investigations.
  • Georgia law enforcement agencies named in the operation include the Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit, the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office, the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Department of Human Services, showing multi-level cooperation.
  • The Attorney General’s unit has used similar cross-jurisdictional stings before, such as Coast to Coast, In Plain Sight and Not Forgotten, a pattern that links rescues and prosecutions with closures of illicit massage businesses and could lead to further arrests and business enforcement.
