Overview
- Three Giripremi members — Vivek Shivade, Mihir Jadhav and Akhil Katkar — reached the summit of Mount Everest on Thursday and hoisted the Indian Tricolour at 8,848.86 metres, expedition leader Umesh Zirpe said.
- The climbers were accompanied to the top by high-altitude guides Urgen Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa and Lakppa Tenji Sherpa, who Zirpe singled out as central to the push through the highest camps.
- The team spent nearly 50 days in the Everest region following a staged acclimatisation plan that included rotations on nearby peaks and camps before making the final summit push within a short May weather window.
