He died in a Rome clinic from complications of broncopneumonia.

Overview

  • The longtime face of Rai2 began reporting in 1974 at Momento-sera and joined Rai in 1988 after roles at Radio Monte Carlo and La Nazione in Florence.
  • At Tg2 he served as a parliamentary reporter, anchored the late newscast in the mid-1990s, and was promoted deputy director in 2002.
  • He later led Rai’s Brussels office, contributed chiefly to Tg1, and returned as Rai2 deputy with responsibility for news programming.
  • His on-air work included foreign correspondent postings in London and Moscow and hosting the programs Italia sì, Italia no and Punto e a capo.
  • In recent years he worked with Mediaset’s Videonews on Toni Capuozzo’s Terra!, founded the Viterbo outlet Lamiacittànews in 2019, and ran in last year’s European elections with Democrazia Sovrana Popolare.
