Giants Open Kicker Competition After Rookie Dominic Zvada’s 5-for-5 Minicamp

Harbaugh declared the job open heading into OTAs to test three kickers under daily pressure.

Overview

  • Dominic Zvada, who went 5-for-5 with a 55-yarder Saturday at rookie minicamp, jump-started an open competition for the Giants’ kicking job.
  • Head coach John Harbaugh said the contest “already started” and plans frequent field-goal work in OTAs to grade consistency and range, and he used drafted rookies in 11-on-11 during minicamp to speed evaluations.
  • The undrafted rookie challenges Ben Sauls and veteran Jason Sanders, who missed 2025 with a hip injury, after Sauls finished last season perfect on 15 kicks.
  • Harbaugh praised Zvada’s strong leg and repeatable “vertical swing” that keeps the ball straight, pointing to a résumé that included 21 of 22 field goals and seven makes from 50-plus yards in 2024 at Michigan.
  • On defense, recent additions at defensive tackle — D.J. Reader, Shelby Harris, Leki Potu and waiver claim Zacch Pickens — left Harbaugh saying he now feels good about the group.
