Germany’s Traffic Offender Register Ticks Up to 10.17 Million as State Trends Diverge

Men dominate the KBA’s Flensburg entries despite faster growth among women in Brandenburg.

  • Nationwide, registered traffic offenders rose about 0.5% year over year to roughly 10.17 million, according to the KBA’s January snapshot.
  • Berlin recorded a slight decline, down 1.0% to about 341,000 registered drivers.
  • Brandenburg increased 1.7% to around 264,000, with female entries up 3.6% compared with a 1.7% rise for men.
  • Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern had the largest percentage increase at 2.2%, while the Saarland saw the biggest drop at about 2.5%.
  • The largest totals remain in the most populous states, led by North Rhine–Westphalia with about 2.12 million, followed by Bavaria and Baden‑Württemberg.
