Germany’s EV Rebound and China’s Record Output Contrast With VW and Audi Delivery Declines

  • Germany registered 545,142 new BEVs in 2025, up 43.2% for a 19.1% share, with Dataforce noting nearly 144,000 tactical registrations including about 64,000 manufacturer self-registrations.
  • Volkswagen’s core brand delivered 4.73 million vehicles in 2025 (−1.4%), with sharp drops in China (−8.4% to 2.02 million) and North America (−8.2% to 544,000) as global BEV deliveries held roughly flat at ~382,000 and surged in Europe and Germany.
  • Audi’s global deliveries fell 2.9% to about 1.62 million, but pure-electric sales rose ~36% to over 223,000 and monthly deliveries have exceeded prior-year levels since September.
  • U.S. BEV sales totaled 1,275,714 in 2025, slightly below 2024, with Q4 plunging to 234,171 from 365,830 a year earlier after a tax-credit expiry pulled purchases into September; Tesla retained a 46.2% annual share.
