Overview
- The Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen has launched the 'Gewerbe zu Wohnen' program and the grant will be available starting in July 2026.
- Applicants can receive a non‑repayable subsidy of up to €30,000 per new dwelling, calculated as 30 percent of up to €100,000 in eligible costs.
- KfW will handle applications which must be filed before construction work begins, and the program excludes unheated warehouses and requires at least one new unit per project.
- Recipients must upgrade buildings to the Effizienzhaus 85 Erneuerbare Energien standard or the relaxed EH Denkmal EE for listed properties while energetic renovation costs are not counted as eligible expenses for the grant.
- European de‑minimis rules cap company totals (reported at about €300,000) and the program can be combined with other federal efficiency funds only so total aid does not exceed eligible costs.
