Overview
- As of February 1, Germany had 196,353 publicly accessible charging points, including 49,904 fast chargers, and the network likely surpassed 50,000 fast units during February because the register lags real-world buildouts.
- Year over year, total public points rose 17% while fast chargers jumped 34%, and cumulative nominal charging capacity climbed about 30% to roughly 8.28 GW.
- Ultra-fast chargers rated above 299 kW increased 44% to 17,049 units, so about one in three fast chargers now delivers more than 299 kW.
- EnBW remains the largest operator with 11,608 charging points and also leads by installed nominal power, with E.ON and Tesla trailing by point count and Tesla and Ionity ranking next by total power.
- North Rhine-Westphalia (38,861), Bavaria (37,561) and Baden‑Württemberg (33,208) lead by public points, while Hamburg has reached 4,842 after adding more than 1,300 in 2025 and is targeting about 10,000 by 2030 through tenders that include Enercity, which reports 120 live points and more in permitting.
