Overview
- The Bundespolizei, which activated the ban Friday at 3 p.m., is enforcing it through Sunday at 3 a.m. at the main stations in Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and Aschaffenburg.
- The order forbids knives of any kind, bladed or blunt striking weapons, firearms including blank-firing pistols, and other dangerous tools.
- The zones cover all public areas of each station including halls, underpasses, platforms, and connected S-Bahn stops.
- Officers will monitor on site, seize banned items, and issue fines or station bans, with posted notices inside the stations.
- Police say weapons create a false sense of safety and can spark escalation, and travelers are urged to check bags since even pocketknives or scissors can be taken.
