German Lada Importer Shuts Down as Insolvency Seals Exit From Market

The shutdown ends official Lada imports to Germany for the foreseeable future.

Overview

  • A court in Tostedt opened insolvency proceedings on January 29, 2026 and appointed lawyer Dr. Per Hendrik Heerma as administrator.
  • Then–managing director Dieter Trzaska had already halted operations in December 2025 at the Buxtehude and Neu Wulmstorf sites.
  • Attempts to find a buyer failed, roughly ten remaining employees lost their jobs, and the company’s website has been taken offline.
  • New registrations plunged to 33 in 2024 and just three Nivas in 2025, according to KBA data.
  • The collapse followed Lada’s 2019 retreat over EU emissions rules, later compounded by Russia sanctions after 2022 and the end of Renault’s support; a predecessor importer also went insolvent in 1999.
