Georgia Man Charged With Athlete Phishing and Sex Trafficking Ordered Held Without Bail

Prosecutors cite alleged in-custody offenses to justify detaining him before trial.

Overview

  • Kwamaine Jerell Ford, 34, pleaded not guilty on March 13 to 22 federal counts, including wire fraud, computer fraud, access device fraud, aggravated identity theft, and sex trafficking.
  • An unsealed indictment alleges he impersonated an adult film star and spoofed Apple support to obtain athletes’ iCloud logins and MFA codes, then used stolen data for personal spending.
  • Prosecutors say the scheme ran from November 2020 to September 2024 and included more than 2,000 unauthorized card transactions, beginning while Ford was in federal custody and continuing after his January 2022 release.
  • Ford is also accused of coercing an OnlyFans model into commercial sex with professional athletes, arranging travel, taking a financial cut, pressuring secret recordings without the athletes’ knowledge, and later demanding money when she resisted.
  • Authorities have not identified victims, detailed how many athletes were targeted, or disclosed total losses, and the FBI is investigating the case being prosecuted in the Northern District of Georgia.
