Overview
- In late June, Walton County deputies found 37-year-old Amanda McBrayer dead at a home on Gauntt Road in Oxford and rushed her 57-year-old mother, Jennifer Lynn Mincey, to Grady Memorial Hospital where she later died.
- Authorities arrested 63-year-old Ralph Mincey at the scene and charged him with two counts of murder and a weapons possession count.
- Released 911 recordings include Mincey telling a dispatcher he shot both women and saying the argument began when his daughter accused him of not caring for his mother, and he described using a nine-millimeter pistol.
- A separate 911 call from Amanda McBrayer’s husband, Adam McGrath, says he witnessed the shooting, reported that his wife was shot in the head, and fled to protect their children.
- Investigators and prosecutors are moving forward with criminal proceedings while the released audio and witness statements form the primary public record and family supporters have sought aid for the victims’ children.
