Genshin Impact’s Luna VIII Adds Sandrone and Permanent Frost Moon

Set for July 1, the update introduces new combat mechanics and a lasting lunar region, signaling likely shifts in team-building and the main story.

Overview

  • miHoYo confirmed the Version Luna VIII update will launch on July 1, 2026, across PC, consoles and mobile with Nintendo Switch support noted as forthcoming.
  • The update restores Sandrone, the Seventh Fatui Harbinger, as a playable 5-star Cryo claymore whose kit commands a construct called Fagio and ties into resurrection-focused story beats.
  • A permanent new region called the Frost Moon will open beyond Teyvat, offering gravity-manipulation terrain, layered map displays and ruins that expand exploration and lore.
  • A new Cryo–Electro reaction named Stellar-Conduct will create a Polestar Field that stores element energy, boosts Cryo/Electro damage and lowers enemies' physical resistance, which could change common team comps.
  • Luna VIII also rolls out event content, character-event wish schedules and short-term promotions including Primogem codes, a Fontinalia festival that grants Charlotte and a free outfit, and Miliastra Wonderland summer rewards that affect short-term player progression and spending.
