Gemini Signs LOI With Apex to Channel Crypto Prediction Contracts to Brokerages

The non-binding deal would let brokerages offer crypto event contracts without building exchange or clearing links.

Overview

  • The non-binding letter of intent, announced Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, would make Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant (FCM).
  • Under the proposal brokerages using Apex’s FCM would route execution and clearing for those contracts to Gemini, avoiding the need to build their own exchange or clearing connections.
  • Gemini has the regulatory plumbing to do this: Titan holds a CFTC Designated Contract Market (DCM) license and Olympus holds a CFTC Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license with live clearing since Aug. 4, 2026.
  • Key commercial details are unresolved: the LOI is non-binding and companies have not disclosed launch dates, which brokerages will participate, revenue splits, or how the claimed exclusivity for crypto contracts will work alongside Apex’s existing Kalshi integration.
  • State-level legal risks and small current revenue complicate the plan because New York and other states have sued over whether federally regulated event contracts violate state gambling laws, and Gemini’s prediction business produced roughly $500,000 in Q2 2026 revenue despite heavy trading volume.
